On October 24th, ULI Utah held its largest ever Trends Conference at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Downtown Salt Lake City. With the central theme “Shape Today, Transform Tomorrow,” the conference was not just an event but a promise of transformation, drawing over 550 professionals from diverse sectors.
The day commenced with a warm welcome, setting the stage for insightful dialogues. Spencer Levy, an expert in commercial real estate and Global Client Strategist for CBRE was the Keynote Speaker. He shared insights, guiding us through the current economic landscape and highlighting pathways for transformation.
Following this, the Capital Markets Panel assembled industry leaders, exploring real estate investment strategies and capital market dynamics. Their collective insights provided a guide for making informed investment decisions crucial for a successful future.
In the mid-morning, experts delved into economic development opportunities, focusing on sustainable progress without compromising vital resources.
Next, resort-oriented master-planned communities took center stage. Visionaries shared insights on design, outdoor living, and the pivotal role these communities play in local economies, setting the stage for a transformed urban landscape.
A presentation on reviving urban creeks delved into the mission of the Seven Canyons Trust. Developers discovered resources for pinpointing creek locations, with a visionary outlook on upcoming projects and community benefits.
After a hearty networking lunch, Councilwoman Victoria Petro addressed the critical issue of housing insecurity. Her comprehensive overview shed light on challenges, trends, and potential solutions, highlighting the urgent need to shape today’s policies for a more secure tomorrow.
The afternoon spotlighted entrepreneurs driving urban innovation. Their insights on strategic placemaking and creative entrepreneurship provided a roadmap for thriving communities.
Next was a forward-looking session on the evolution of residential housing in Salt Lake City. Attendees gained insights into cutting-edge developments, blending innovation and natural beauty for a transformed urban living experience.
The concluding panel featured several professionals from Utah’s sports and entertainment industry. The audience was engaged by their unique perspectives on the contribution of sports and entertainment to civic engagement and the creation of community. Following this panel and concluding remarks, attendees were invited to finish the day with a networking social.
