500 professionals gathered for ULI Utah's Annual Trends Conference in Salt Lake City, UT.
The 4th Annual ULI Utah Housing Summit —From Roadblocks to Results: Building Smarter, Faster, Stronger– brought together more than 350 industry leaders, public officials, and housing experts for a half-day of education, inspiration, and actionable ideas. With a standing-room-only crowd, the energy was electric as private and public players explored how to make housing more attainable and accessible. While there are no easy solutions, the conversations underscored that collaboration is not only possible– it’s essential.

Keynote & Market Overview
Tim Sullivan, Chief Advisory Officer at Zonda, emceed the program and delivered an engaging overview of national housing market trends. He was joined by Evan Forrest, who provided a deeper dive into local Wasatch Front data, sharing figures and forecasts that gave the audience a clear picture of Utah’s housing future.
Moving the Needle on Housing Supply
Moderated by Zachary Hartman (Land Advisors Organization), this builder panel featured leaders from Edge Homes, Lennar, D.R. Horton, Richmond American Homes, and Ivory Homes. The discussion highlighted strategies for scaling supply despite market headwinds and surprised attendees by calling out municipalities that have become strong partners in supporting housing growth.
Bringing Back Condos
Moderated by Wendy Leonelli (J. Fisher Companies), this session examined how condominiums can re-emerge as a pathway to ownership and housing diversity. Panelists from Cole West, the Governor’s Office, and the Utah Housing Corporation outlined policy, finance, and development shifts that could make vertical living more feasible in Utah.
Embracing Density & Local Solutions
Closing the summit, Scott Whiteman and Mike Stock (Durham, NC) joined Michaela Bell (Salt Lake City) to explore how cities can update zoning and planning practices to enable “missing middle” housing. Their insights offered forward-thinking perspectives and real-world strategies to embrace density and create more inclusive neighborhoods.
