On July 1, Ibi Guevara of Hunt Electric became chair for the Utah District Council of the Urban Land Institute (ULI Utah). She succeeds Brian Wilkinson, Partner at Wilkinson Ferrari & Co., who served in that role since July 1, 2017.

Ibi Guevara is a shareholder and Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at Hunt Electric, where she has been instrumental in driving the company’s consistent growth over the past 15 years. She attributes her strong work ethic to the example set by her working-class parents in her native Romania. She believes in developing relationships and in reciprocating the help she receives. A leader in her company, she considers building a talented and successful marketing team from the ground up to be one of her proudest achievements to date. She has also been a driving force in Hunt Electrics expansion to Denver and St. George.
Ibi has been active in the Utah business community. She is a member of the Salt Lake Chamber, EDCUtah, Corporate Alliance, and the Society of Marketing Professional Services, and currently serves on the board of Urban Land Institute and serves on several NAIOP committees. She is a past IFMA board member.
Ibi was included in Utah Business Magazine’s list of “30 Women to Watch” in 2010 and “Forty under 40” in 2016, was named Salesperson of the Year by the Association of General Contractors in 2009, SMPS Marketer of the Year in 2010, and Wasatch Women Business honoree in 2011. Her personal achievements in business have been mirrored by Hunt Electric’s success as an award-winning player in the electrical industry.
She holds an MBA in Business and Marketing Management from Colorado Technical University, and a law degree from Dimitrie Cantemir Christian University Faculty of Law. She is proficient in English, Romanian and Hungarian.
Ibi spearheads Hunt Electric’s community outreach activities, including annual participation in the Brockstrong 5K. Past events have included holiday food drives for the Utah Food Bank, the Christmas Shoebox Drive, and the annual MS Bike Ride. In addition to her role as chair of the Urban Land Institute’s Utah District Council, she serves on the University of Utah’s CSBS Advancement Board.
Ibi is married to Darrin Guevara and they have four beautiful children. In their spare time, the family enjoys camping, hiking, boating, and in the winter, skiing on the greatest snow on earth.
Ibi has been active in ULI for over eight years and has served as chair of the programs committee and chair of mission advancement for the past two years.
As chair, Ibi will guide the efforts of a 15-person Executive Committee that runs 20+ events a year, including monthly programs, Walkable Wednesdays, UrbanPlan for Public Officials, advisory services, and ULI Utah’s signature Trends Conference. Her main objective for the next two years is to increase membership and member engagement while having a lasting impact in the community.
